Wake County Public School System Online Scholarship Guide
Open Ended Deadlines:
National Co-Op Scholarship Program
Students can apply to one of ten institutions and can apply for one of these scholarships simply by completing an online version of the form. The participation and support of the Corporate Partners and Sponsors signifies a keen and ongoing interest in the professional growth and development of college students.
Requirements: 3.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale, apply for the 2017-18 academic year at one of the WACE Partner Institutions listed.
Deadline: Varies depending on school. Check brochure for specific information.
Suntrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes
Amount: Thirty (30) $500 scholarships to be awarded for education expenses at a college or university
Requirements: Free to enter and eligibility not based on GPA or financial need
Application: Enter online or by mail once every two weeks up to 15 times during the sweepstakes period. Two winners chosen every two weeks.
Deadline: October 28, 2016 thru May 12 ,2017
Triangle Community Foundation:

North Carolina Community Foundation Scholarships: The North Carolina Community Foundation offers about 150 scholarships every year. Many are available to students throughout the entire state, and there are a couple that are available specifically for students in Wake County! The UNCG Guarantee is a selective scholarship program for high-achieving, low-income students who plan to attend UNCG and are residents of North Carolina. The UNCG Guarantee is more than an outstanding financial aid package for those who qualify; it is also a support program that provides a variety of opportunities and services to enhance scholars’ academic achievement, leadership skills, and personal success. Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest Description, Monthly deadlines: Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Entries are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc Alumnae Chapter will award two scholarships to a deserving, African-American student that has demonstrated exceptional academic and leadership skills.
Applicants must meet the following criteria: The candidate must be a current, African-American high school senior, entering as a freshman in Fall 2017 at an accredited college/university with at least a 3.0 or equivalent unweighted grade point average (GPA). Established by the Raleigh Jaycees in 2003, the following scholarships promote student achievement for those who have demonstrated “Leadership Development Through Community Service.” Students must be nominated by an Administrator, School Counselor, Employer or Community Service Supervisor. Criteria include merit, character, and leadership and community activities.
TWO awards will be given in 2017. Maximum amount for each award is a one-time amount of $1000. Scholarships may be applied to expenses for tuition, required fees, and required books. Scholarships will be awarded prior to the beginning of the Fall 2017 semester.
Selection of Recipients
Raleigh Jaycees Scholarship Fund Committee (RJCSF) has the sole responsibility for selecting award recipients.
In order to be eligible for a Raleigh Jaycees Leadership and Community Development Scholarship,applicants must complete the application form in its entirety and return it with supporting attachments in one envelope to the RJCSF committee. Only complete applications received by May 31, 2017 will be considered.Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of length of commitment and quality of leadership responsibilities in community and school activities, awards and honors, recommendations, and academic record. RJCSF has sole responsibility for the selection of award recipients and its decision will be final. Recipients will be notified by July 31, 2017.

May 31, 2017, Raleigh Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities scholarship:
The scholarship is for a person who has a disability and will be pursuing either an academic undergraduate degree or vocational endeavor. Two merit scholarships will be awarded for $1000 each and the recipient will be honored in July in conjunction with the commemoration of the anniversary of the ADA.
Previous recipients are not eligible.
Applications will be considered from persons who reside in Raleigh.

Section A. Selection Committee: Representatives from Couch Oil Company, the Durham Bulls Baseball Club, former
scholarship recipients and other community leaders shall serve on the Couch Oil Cares (COC) Scholarship Selection
Section B. Application: Applications for the Couch Oil Cares Scholarships will be available online at
www.DurhamBulls.com (Community section), www.couchoilcompany.com, the Couch Oil Company Facebook page and other mutually agreed upon locations.
Section C. Eligibility: Applications for the scholarships shall be limited to:
• Current high school seniors (as of April 1, 2017) from Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Franklin,
Granville, Johnston, Nash, Orange, Person, Wake and Wilson counties .
• The applicant must have been accepted to and registered at either a four-year or community college for the
fall of 2017.
Section D. Deadline: Applications must be postmarked no later than July 17,2017.
Section E. Granting Scholarships: Couch Oil Company will award four (4) scholarships of $1,000 each for one year only.
